NPN transistor TR3 needs 7V (in case of NTSC-J) from Mega Drive on its Base so the 9V from Collector goes to the Emitter, which is connected to ground. This circuit is connected as Base on PNP transistor TR4 and, since it's now connected to ground, it allows the 9V from Emitter going through Collector, and then to Mega-CD motherboard. This means, when testing voltages with the board apart, you won't be able to get 9V after TR4. |

CD-Main board ribbon has some terminals lifted up and horizontally bent. 25 pin, pitch seems to be 1mm 160mm long x 3.25mm wide Will try to glue them in place, and change for another cable if that doesn't work. IMG_5248.JPG (2,892,188 bytes) |

FFC power/audio to main: 7cm length, 21 pin, 1.25mm pitch (?) FFC main to cd: 16cm lenght, 25 pin, 1.25mm pitch (?) |

Both FFC changed; still same issue. Tried many different BIOS using an Everdrive but all of them have the same issue, so problem resides on CD pickup area. |

SW101 (CD open-closed switch) works as expected. CD spindle motor turns when 5V are applied directly. Lid open-close motor works well too at 5V. |

Will replace lens just in case but I'm not too sure it's the faulty part... It's a JVC OPTIMA-5. |
